End of Day Three

Here are some pictures at the end of Day 3. The drywall is up, so next is the mudding/sanding process. However, that won't begin until Monday.

Kitchenette-ette in Basement

We thought we would show some pictures of our little set-up in the basement. We referred to it as our kitchenette, but our contractor called it a "kitchenette-ette." We also have a stovetop set up in the workshop next door.
Our sink and appliance area.

The cupboards have our food in them and the tables have our silverware, utensils pots, etc.

Here is where we have our dishes & cups.

In the workshop, which is next to the “kitchenette-ette,” we have our "stovetop."

Here I am making breakfast on the temporary stovetop.

End of Day One

Well, the first day is over. It was a long day. We were able to borrow the dump truck from work, which was very nice. A dumpster was quite expensive, so we used the dump truck for all the old cabinets & countertop. Then after I got home from work, John & I took it about 10 miles north of town to the home of a man from work. He just finished building a new home and has a "burn pile" where we could get rid of the dump truck load. He is the maintenance man at work. Well, the dump truck wouldn't "dump" when we got there so he had to adjust something. Finally it worked & we dumped the load. Then as we were driving out, the truck got stuck in some wet grass/mud. Thankfully with the 4-wheel drive we were able to get it out. So we were at his house longer than we expected. We came home & were about ready to leave when our neighbors across the street came over to check out the progess of the kitchen. So until we left to go get some dinner it was nearly 7:30 PM. It was a long day. However, I am thankful that I was able to get this blog set up to show some pictures. Now it is time to get some sleep! :-)

Here are a few pictures of the kitchen at the end of Day One. Demolition is done...now on to wiring & new lighting!

Dining Room

Here is a "before" pic of the dining room, focusing on the floor.

Another before pic showing the wall that was removed.

This was John's project the first day...took up the carpet in the Dining Room.
We were nervous about the condition of the oak floor...but it is beautiful!!!

Day One: Demolition Day

Who are those people and what have they done???

There used to be a dishwasher, sink, etc here...

First Post

We have been thinking about starting a blog for some time....just didn't know if we had much to blog about! Well, we now have something we want friends & family to be able to access, so now is the time! Today we began the much anticipated kitchen remodel project. So our blog will show the progress of the project as it goes along.
